Why do so many people think that someone is making up these allegations against Cam Newton?

I haven't heard people saying that the allegations are made up, but like most people probably are, I don't really care. The NCAA is hypocritical to say the least and don't see how what money he may or may not have taken affects anything he's done on the field.
